Farewell at Dusk
A city where once battles were fought and cruel men ruled has become a place where children now play games. One day young Aleta found a long neck hatchling and brought him home in her cloak. Her mother warned her not to become too close as one day she would have to get rid of the young gieslet. Years went by and the two became inseparable. Some times Aleta would sneak out to the barn and sleep next to his warm body. Her mother’s warning became clear one day after a small incident involving two neighborhood boys, one sling shot, a partially destroyed fence, escaped goats, a flattened milking can, and sadly an innocent cat and it’s failed attempt to zig zag out of the way.
